  F i Keakealani was born about 1823.

M iii Keomalu (II) was born about 1827.

Keomalu (II) [Parents] 1 was born about 1827 in Pauuilo, Hawaii, Hawaii. He married Kahananui.

I have assumed this is the son of the only other Keomalu in the records, who is also from the same area of Hawaii.

Kahananui. married Keomalu (II).

Other marriages:
Kaililuaua (Kaililuaua Haihala),

Paakaula 1 was born about 1850 in Waipio, Hamakua, Hawaii, Hawaii. He died about 1904 in Paauilo, Hawaii. He married Inakuaina (Oinaku) Keomalu (Aina Palea) about 1872.

Inakuaina (Oinaku) Keomalu (Aina Palea) [Parents] 1 was born about 1836 in Kaauhuhu, Hawaii, Hawaii. She was buried in Old Mormon Cemetery, Kalopa, Hawaii, Hawaii. She married Paakaula about 1872.

This is the real identity for the person named "Oinaku Aina". After much research, it seems that the name and birthdates got corrupted over time.

Oinaku Aina (Keomalu) and Inakuaina Keomalu are the same person. Unfortunately, they have been handled as two people and have separate sets of LDS temple ordinances. For that reason, this record is being kept in the genealogy to aoid confusion in the future.

Here is what happened: Oinaku Aina ("Aina") lost her last name "Keomalu", because it was assumed that was her married name. One of her husband's is referred to as Paakaula Keomalu and her son with him is named Joseph Keomalu. But what happened was this: the son was named after the mother. The father was simply Paakaula, born in Waipio in 1850. In later record keeping, people estimated the woman Oinaku Aina's birthdate at around 1850 at Waipio to match her husband. They also gave her last name to Paakaula, assuming the boy child was carrying the father's name. In this way, Paakaula became Paakaula Keomalu.

But the records on the original Keomalu man and his descendant's do not support a person with the birth name Paakaula Keomalu. He was also born in the wrong place to have that name.

It is, in fact, Oinaku Aina who was born Keomalu. She was born Inakuaina Keomalu. Her parents were named Keomalu (k.) and Kahaumanu (w.), that is why my grandfather has a sister named Bertha KAHAUMANU Kekoolani (she is named after her great grandmother). She was also older (age 37) when she gave birth to her son Joseph Keomalu Sr. (son of Paakaula) and later (age 38) to Charles Kekoolani (son of Solomon Peleioholani). So this has thrown people off to.

It's important to remember she was only 7 years older than Solomon Peleioholani, so although she wasn't a young girl, she was a contemporary of Solomon's and still within the window for childbearing.

It may turn out that the birthdates for the original Keomalu family are off, but there should not be a very large shift. This settles the matter of "who was Oinaku Aina"? (A long standing mystery in our family).

--------------------------------------------------

Another male Keomalu lived in Paauilo, from Aina's generation. This could theoretically be Aina's brother, but it is most likely not Paakaula. We have assigned this younger male Keomalu (II) as a son of the original male Keomalu (I). Solomon Peleioholani's hanai parents (Kamakoalani and Keakealani) were from Paauilo. This is probably how Solomon Peleioholani met Aina.
